I have been involved with sport throughout my life; first as an international swimmer then a high-level squash player. When my competitive days in both sports ended, I coached swimming to national level and taught and coached squash. I remained involved in high level sport throughout my career as an International Sports Photographer covering events throughout the world including professional and amateur sports including multiple Olympic Games.
Recognizing that anyone can play pickleball, I’ve instructed people of all ages and abilities, but one of the most rewarding experiences, to date, has been teaching a group of Special Olympic athletes. Description text goes here

I hold a level 1 NCCP coaching certificate and I am finishing up my level 2 certifcation.

I have been playing pickleball for about 10 years and have seen the game change over time. My background sport was soccer and I enjoyed assisting in organizing a ladies recreational league. I focus mainly on intermediate and advanced level coaching and really enjoy the challenge of taking players’ games from 3.0 to 3.5 and 3.5 to 4.0+. I maintain a safe, instructive, friendly environment in all my lessons and clinics, with the end goal of participants increasing their knowledge and skills and having fun while doing so.
-
I am an IPTPA Level II Instructor and Director and teach mostly in Calgary, but have also held clinics in British Columbia, Nova Scotia, the UK, and Mexico. Prior to discovering and embracing the very fun but challenging sport of pickleball I was a competitive level doubles and singles squash player (Gold medal in the 2005 World Masters Games) and prior to that a national level badminton player (many years ago!)

Rob’s passion for pickleball began in January 2022 when he first played with his wife, Kristy. As a competitive athlete who enjoys skiing, golf, hockey, tennis, and volleyball, Rob expected to excel quickly.
Rob immediately recognized how fun, engaging, and incredibly social the sport was. Unlike any other sport he had played, pickleball offered a unique sense of community alongside competition.
Encouraged by the positive feedback he received, Rob completed the Level 1 NCCP coaching program so he could introduce pickleball to a broader range of people looking for an active and enjoyable sport.
-
Rob has since competed and medaled in numerous tournaments, including the 2025 Alberta Provincial Championships, where he earned bronze in the 4.5+ mixed doubles event and silver in the 4.0 men’s doubles event. He continues to work on improving his game and looks forward to introducing the sport to many future passionate picklers.

Hi, I'm a passionate pickleball coach, active tournament player, and NCCP Level 1 Certified Pickleball Coach dedicated to helping players improve while having fun. I specialize in coaching 2.0–3.0 players, building confidence, strong fundamentals, and smarter strategies through personalized instruction.
While fundamentals are essential, I don't believe there's a one-size-fits-all way to play pickleball. Every player has different strengths, athletic abilities, and goals, so my coaching is tailored to you—not a system. Together, we'll build on what you do well, improve the areas that need attention, and develop a style of play that helps you succeed and enjoy the game. Whether you're new to pickleball, looking to improve your DUPR rating, or preparing for your first tournament, I'll help you reach your goals with practical coaching, constructive feedback, and drills you can use right away.

I have many years of experience in teaching at the college level and working as a corporate trainer, I understand that everyone learns differently. I bring that same approach to pickleball coaching by creating a positive, supportive environment where players can learn at their own pace, build confidence, and enjoy the process of improvement. Pickleball should be fun, it is a hobby not a grind. My schedule is very flexible as I reside in Cochrane and retired.
